What do I do in case of hospitalization?

Declare your Hospitalization

In case you need to be admitted to a hospital -scheduled or as an emergency- it is important that you contact us. This way, you can activate the benefits of your plan and start the respective claim compensation process.
You can declare your hospital admission in one of the following ways:

Alternatively, declare your hospitalization via MyGenerali, the digital customer platform (available for desktops and as an app for tablets and smartphones).

Declare your Hospitalization

Hospitalization Pre-approval

In case you need to be admitted to a hospital and you select a Hospital from our network, you can send us a Pre-approval request at least 5 business days prior to your admission and receive information on your coverage. Send us your request in one of the following ways:

Send us an email at lifeclaimsapproval@generali.gr with your completed Claim Request / My Check-In Form and the Attending Physician / Medical Report Form, including any other additional documentation specified in the forms, depending on the incident.

Hospitalization Pre-approval

In case you need to be admitted to a hospital and you select a Hospital from our network, you can send us a Pre-approval request at least 5 business days prior to your admission and receive information on your coverage. Send us your request in one of the following ways:

Hospitalization at a network hospital

If you are hospitalized at a Partner Hospital or Medical Institution in Greece from our specialized network, you are automatically covered, with the declaration of your hospitalization.

Hospitalization at a network hospital

If you are hospitalized at a Partner Hospital or Medical Institution in Greece from our specialized network, you are automatically covered, with the declaration of your hospitalization.

Hospitalization at a non-network hospital

If you are hospitalized at a non-network hospital, please send us the following documentation to activate your compensation claim process via MyGenerali or via email LifeClaimsRetail@generali.gr:

  • A completed and signed Claim Request Form
  • A comprehensive Medical Folder including your admission and discharge details, any medical reports and opinions by attending physicians, all examinations and/or screening results as well as the hospitalization sheets and reports
  • A copy of the first page of your Bank Book or any other document displaying your IBAN

Hospitalization at a non-network hospital

If you are hospitalized at a non-network hospital, please send us the following documentation to activate your compensation claim process via MyGenerali or via email LifeClaimsRetail@generali.gr:

  • A completed and signed Claim Request Form
  • A comprehensive Medical Folder including your admission and discharge details, any medical reports and opinions by attending physicians, all examinations and/or screening results as well as the hospitalization sheets and reports
  • A copy of the first page of your Bank Book or any other document displaying your IBAN

Hospitalization at a network hospital

If you are hospitalized at a Partner Hospital -scheduled or as an emergency- and in case you are covered by your Insurance plan, you need to:

Declare at the time of your admission to the Traffic Office, your insurance number and your insurance company

Fill in and sign the Claim Request / My Check-In Form at your admission to the medical institution

As soon as you are finished with the steps above, your relevant coverages and benefits of your plan will be activated, and start the compensation process

Hospitalization at a non-network hospital

If you are hospitalized at a non-network hospital, you will need to follow the steps below:

Call Generali Call Center at 210 8096100 and or 18112, in order to inform us about your scheduled hospitalization, at least one (1) day before your admittance so that we can you give clarifications about your insurance coverage.

For the compensation document, send us the following documentation via email at LifeClaimsRetail@generali.gr or via post at Generali’s Central Offices (Syggrou Ave. & 40 Lagoumitzi St, 11745 Athens):

  • A completed and signed Claim Request Form/ My Check-in
  • All necessary documents (they differ per coverage and per incident, depending on the examination and screening results), along with the receipts of services and doctors’ fees
  • A copy of the first page of your Bank Book or any other document displaying your IBAN

Ensure that you have included your insurance number, name & surname and plan name.

My Check-in / Certificate of Coverage

Alternatively, for scheduled hospitalizations and if you wish to be exempted from the standard checks during your admission to the hospital you have selected, we recommend following the My Check-In procedure to quickly obtain a certificate of your insurance prior to your scheduled admission.

Provided that you have sent us the above documents, we will let you know if you are covered within two (2) business days, and we will send you the respective coverage confirmation. For requests received after 17:00, the date of receipt is the next business day.

The My Check-in process applies to scheduled hospitalizations only (does not include unscheduled/unplanned, emergency incidents).
